Stop Hunger UK and Ireland

Help us make a difference fighting against food insecurity!

Stop Hunger was created in 1996 by US Sodexo colleagues who witnessed children going to school with an empty stomach. Sodexo then picked up this local initiative and now Sodexo’s Stop Hunger Foundation is active in 40 countries around the world. Stop Hunger UK and Ireland is a non-profit organisation relying on a network of local and national charities working towards a hunger-free world.

Since 2010, the Stop Hunger Foundation has donated more than £3.4 million to charities tackling hunger and malnutrition.

According to the UN, about 8.4 million people are currently suffering from food insecurity in the UK. In the UK and Ireland, Sodexo volunteers work alongside charities and organisations, donating time, skills, and money to tackle food insecurity, and promote life skills in local communities.

Thanks to the financial support of Sodexo, 100% of the donations made to Stop Hunger go directly to financing activities and sustainable solutions to support the most disadvantaged local communities and empower women, who represent the most effective solution in eliminating hunger - either by providing emergency support, but also trying to find sustainable ways for individuals not to face food insecurity

2021 figures:

  • 2,304 volunteer hours recorded.
  • £402,000 collected in the region.
  • 1,472 meals distributed to people in need.
  •  1,560,153 people benefited from Stop Hunger’s grants and volunteering.
